Tour Details

Namo Buddha is situated at the hill top of Panauti and is a very important Buddhist pilgrimage site. Located in the Kavre District only about 38 km east of Kathmandu, it makes for a perfect day trip to escape the busy city! Especially noteworthy is the history of this place: The stupa and shrines build on this lovely little hill mark an ancient holy site: Here, the legendary prince named Mahasattva offered himself to a starving Tigress and her underfed cubs.

Moreover, this legendary story is depicted in a very nice stone slab and placed right next to a holy stupa. After breakfast at the Hotel, we drive 35 km east of Kathmandu for about one and half hours to a place called Dhapasi via an ancient Newar town Panuti. Further, from Dhapasi we follow the uphill trail. Then, we cross a suspension bridge and pass through many small villages to a huge rice field. Experience with your own eyes how Nepali people plant and harvest the crop. Furthermore, we hike steep uphill for about an hour to reach Namo Buddha. After lunch, we continue to walk on easy trails to Dhulikhel. You can choose to drive back to Kathmandu or overnight at resort in Dhulikhel.
